v1.1.0.0 - Thank you to EG's Support Team
This update is dedicated to EG Warhammer's incredible discord support team, a group of unpaid volunteers who every day give individual live help to sims players with infinite loading screens, disappearing doors, and gibberish LastException files. It's a service that the modding community for The Sims 4 possibly would struggle to thrive without, and they deserve all of our thanks.
Most of the improvements in this mod update have been made to prevent problems that turn up in the error files I see brought to EG's support team. This update aims to make installing and updating this mod easier for players, reduce the workload of EG's support team, and even provide some fixes for bugs in the unmodded game that are unrelated to Meaningful Stories.
Less False Errors - The mod will appear less in LastException files from errors that it is not related to.
Online Update Checking - When there is a more recent version of the mod available to download, a notification will display to let you know, and provide a button to click to go straight to the download page.
Troubleshooting Notifications - When you have made a common mistake installing the mod, a notification will display to let you know, and give you instructions on how to fix it.
- Obsolete mods installed - When you have installed both Meaningful Stories and one of the stand-alone mood mods with the same effects, a notification will display, and tell you to uninstall the obsolete mods
- Package not installed - When you have installed the ts4script file but not the main package file, a notification will display, and tell you to reinstall the mod.
- Script not installed - When you have successfully installed the main package file but not the ts4script file, a notification will display within one in-game day of sim-time, and give you a list of things to check in order to fix it.
Thanks to Scumbumbo for developing the technique used for this feature.
Unofficial Patch features - These features fix Maxis-made errors in the python, to prevent bugs that can occur in even an unmodded game.
- Toddler Skill Gain Moodlets Fix - Toddlers will give the 'Growing So Fast' moodlet to nearby caregivers only when they reach a skill milestone, and not every time you load the game. Inquisitive Toddlers will also gain the 'Learned Something New' moodlet only when they gain a skill level, and not every time you load the game.
- Aspiration Resolution Fix - Having a sim with a resolution to complete an aspiration milestone who then completes an aspiration milestone will no longer cause errors.
- Blacklisted Commodity Fix - Having a sim prevented from having a specific motive or other commodity will no longer cause errors when a buff attempts to change the blacklisted commodity. This mostly affects combinations of mods such as Triplis' Sorcerer mod with LittleMsSam's More Fun Stuff mod.
Because I am also attempting to inform Maxis about these issues and the potential fixes I have made for them, these bugs may get fixed in a future game patch. So that my unofficial patch features will not cause problems when an official fix is released, all of these features will only function on the current game version 1.52.100. After the next game patch, I will confirm if the fixes are still needed, and if they are, I will update the mod to re-enable them.
Thanks to alphabetsmells for helping develop the technique used to identify the current game version.
